In the hype of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, more and more epic commercials air on our tubes (both TV's and YouTube). I guess this is the same hype felt in the advertising world in the US during the superbowl. Air time during those hours must've been extremely expensive, doesn't shock me if the commercials make me bleed my eyes from awesome. Right now there are two shoe brands that come up to my attention, Nike and Adidas. Not being a fan of both sides made me appreciate the creativity of both commercials equally.
So between these two, i guess two giants are fighting for attention. You be the judge on which is better.
Adidas, holding on to its Star Wars theme from this early year made use of various celebrities and pop culture icons and merged them with the concept of watching football in a star wars enviroment. But apart from it, the ad itself doesn't give you a certain "WOGH!" to it. As deadly as the combination of snoop dog and lightsabers would be, the ad itself does not give any hype about the world cup itself. But overall it was a commercial like none other.
Nike, now i remember the first night i saw this commercial well. It was the finals of the Champions League, Bayern Munchen vs. Inter Milan. During half time everybody was planning on resting their eyes from anything football for a sec, and then it came on. It was three minutes of football glory. I wasn't mad about football, but even me a passive supporter stood in awe. Explanation cannot aptly describe how this ad really is, except "EPIC" fits it into one word.So between these two, i guess two giants are fighting for attention. You be the judge on which is better.
